The car had its MOT today which I'm pleased to report it passed with no advisories. With all it's recent suspension work and 4 new tyres I would of been disappointed if it hadn't passed!
Whilst they had it in the oil was changed finally. A fair bit later than I wanted ad I'm a busy man but it's done now. 6.5L of Mobil 1 0w40 and she's purring again.
Car is currently on 122812 miles and running like a dream.

The car had been smelling of burnt oil for a couple of weeks now which has been diagnosed to a leaking valve cover gasket. It's booked in late April to get that done and any others that are either showing signs or are accessible.
Also received some spigot rings which I finally got around to sorting.
A few posts on here suggested 72.6mm to 79mm for my OZ wheels so will fit those eventually. Hope they are right but weren't much if they're wrong. Gonna suck it and see.

I picked the car up yesterday after it's latest round of work. It's going through the expensive teenage years 😄
I've been having an occasional engine light and the code pointed to the exhaust vanos mechanism (edit: code 2A87)
I'm hoping the change to a genuine vanos solenoid ( remove the ebay cheapy) and new vanos filters will solve the issue. It does seem to be a bit perkier and picks up better on my brief drive back yesterday.
On a more preventative note the aux belt and tensioner were done as well.
I've had the car nearly 8 years and although they didn't look too bad that seems a long time to me and I've no idea how long it was on prior to my ownership.
They also did a bit of coding to get rid if some annoying lights namely and code out the headlamp washers which I don't have now.
This session was meant to sort the valve cover gasket but it's going to have to go back in for that when funds have recovered. I will probably ask them to do the water pump and stat at that point so that's going to be an expensive one 😳
Whilst Travis was checking the tyre pressures in the hope of rectifying my tyre pressure warning light we spotted a nail poking out the side of the nsr tyre. The air turned blue!!
Anyway the car is running nice and coming up to 127,000 miles which is about 40k very enjoyable ones in my ownership.
Here's the patient and here's the said nail.

Found a rare few hours spare this afternoon so got around to fitting the spigot rings I've been hoarding. Whilst the wheels were off I gave everything a cursory wipe down and cleaned the wheels. Not a single chip on the calipers which I'm impressed with. Same can't be said for my nsf wheel though 😡😫

After 3 months of rolling the dice on a flat or a blowout I've replaced the 2 rear tyres!
Don't flame me 😬
Same as before but keeping the 1 good one as a spare if I get another nail.
Also gave it a wash which was way overdue.
Nothing else to report really.
The planned oil weep and preventative water pump will have to wait until funds have recovered. Moving house is expensive!
Mileage is around 131000 and counting. Still loving it after nearly 8 years!

Fresh MOT yesterday but I needn't of worried. Straight through so happy days.
It's just ticked past the 140K but still running great. Looks abandoned at the moment though 😕
I've never loved it more but shown it less love than I have recently. No time = no clean!

Got it back today from the garage.
One n/s/r wheel bearing replaced and peace is back again 🥳
Next month will be oil change along with probably diff and gearbox oil.
The latter two were done around 50k ago so worth doing again.

It's still loved but still filthy 😄

Now this is a proper thread - great progress over the years.

And a fellow shifter I see

#savethemanuals :spotman:
Thank you 😊

I dread to think how much I've spent on it in the near 9 years I've had it but it must be approaching what I paid for it in the first place!
However I have become quite attached to it and better the devil you know and all that 😆

To my eternal shame the engine oil was changed today after being waaaaay overdue. I'm so busy at the moment and the miles pile on daily.
Settled on BMW 5-30.
Also had a gearbox oil change which I felt was needed. I'd previously put some Redline in there around 50k miles ago and although fine was starting to feel a little notchy. In went 2.5L of OEM oil. All smooth now though 👌

I'd also been without tunes since before Christmas so at the 2nd attempt fitted a replacement professional one curtesy of Quarry motors.
The first replacement was a cheapo eBay one which wasn't as advertised but at least confirmed to me it was the original head unit that gave up the ghost and nothing more sinister.
Anyhow choons are back much to my wifes joy. Personally I was more than happy listening to straight 6 FM 🥰
Mileage c146k but my head is being turned by an older and bigger barge!
I don't know wether to stick or twist 🤔
Watch this space....

.... I'm sticking. For now. I really need to sell the car as it's killing me in fuel costs and general running.
However it has huge sentimental value and it's pretty much as I wanted it all those years ago when I brought it. It's a tough decision!
Passed another little milestone a couple of days ago though.

It was all paid with using man maths. So it all makes sense……….🫣

I managed to find a bit of time yesterday to give the seats a bit of a clean. Several years of kids and general mess had left them embarrassingly dirty.
A good hoover and a few passes with some Autobrite Fab had them looking their best again.
The photo's probably don't do it justice but they came up really well in person.
Please excuse the rest of the car 😲

OMG! So glad, I don't have kids!!!!! No more thoughts on selling then Paul?
Then or them 🤔 😄

I know I need to Si but I love it and my heart rules my head. Plus better the devil you know 👍

Meanwhile other news.
Just dropped a litre of oil in it. Plumped for Shell Helix 5w30 which is the same grade but probably not the exact same BMW stuff that got put in it recently. For £6.89 it's going in though! Sorry N52 😞
Didn't think this forum needed another "will this oil suit" thread.

Next up will be tyres before the weather turns. More than likely the same Continental SC7 as they've been excellent and pretty good value compared to the other UHP stuff.

BMW fill is just rebranded Helix anyway so it's a good choice. Personally I try and buy Helix but it's never on offer when I need it to be!
