Gutted to hear about the job loss, it can feel terrible.

Car is mega as always.
Thanks wrevilo. Mixed emotions about the job but I'm enjoying my free time.
Cheered myself up by getting some lci high darklines from another member so need to get those fitted at some point. Probably when the kids go back to school.

After months of meaning to do it I finally got it booked in for the heater blower recall. A painless experience overall but did feel a little bit of a fraud in and amongst some very expensive cars 😄 Nice coffee tho.
They did give it a wash which I forgot to tell them not to but I was distracted by a barrage of models that worked there. Definitely not like my usual garage!
They gave it a vehicle check as well which came back largely good except for 2 things.
First is a selector shaft seal leaking and second is an osr diff seal missing!
If anyone can shed any light on the severity of these then I'm all ears 🙂

Agreed Ice. They gave me a 71 plate 320i as a courtesy car and whilst a nice way to get from A to B it was dull as to drive. To my shame I had to ask them how to drive it 🤫
Boggled by the auto box I was 😄
Very happy to be back in mine at the close of play.

I felt like a bit of a plonker with my A4 paper taped to the dash with "do not wash me" written in red sharpie for a pokey old 1er, but in fairness they were totally fine with it 🤷‍♂️

Selector seal is a pain to access, I'd book it in for a bit more work at the same time. Did mine when I had the box out.

Is it the diff seal or just the protection plate that's missing? Should be able to see from under/behind the car when it's light out!

I had to watch a video to understand how auto wipers work so no shame in asking how to drive that thing. For me it just didn’t say auto lol

I still need to get mine in for the recall.. I trust they dealt with it OK and you have no new squeks or rattles as a rsult of them pulling trim out?
It needs a service too (time rather than miles). It has full BMW history from new, I'd like to keep it that way resulting in me being over a barrell.

Well the protection plate is there, so although there is a tide line around the output flange I'm not sure how they've diagnosed the seal as 'missing' rather than 'leaking', that plate completely covers it!

Might as well swap the side bearings when the seal gets done. If you fancy an LSD, that would be a good time

Something I've been meaning to do for a while was give the engine bay a bit of a tidy up. It was by no means horrendous but always looked a bit uncared for when you opened the bonnet.
This was by no means a good detail more of a liberal spray with some degreaser and a few brushes to agitate the areas I could reach.
Next grabbed the hose, switched to a finer spray pattern and went for it. I did put an old rag over the alternator and taped round a few connections but other than that gave it a good rinse.
Finished it off by dressing what I could in some Carpro perl, gave my poor back a stretch and admired my 30 minutes work.
Apprehensively started the car and all is good 🥳
True to form a poor photo from the phone

Looks real clean and good for the tidy up!!

I got the pleasure of meeting Pem10 the other day, and his excellent 130i.
I'm very jealous of his wheels and front bumper. !
This fine chap took me for a nice spin to sample the Gruppe M.

With regards to the sound difference between the BMW Performance and Gruppe M.. There's really nothing to split them. There's no denying the glossy carbon airbox though.. But you lose the carbon intake snorkle from the Performance option.. Oooo decisions, do I fancy a change.??

Heads for yes, tails for no 😉
Nice to meet you to and thanks for the kind words. It's always nice to put a face to a name. Shame we couldn't get a pair of 1ers together but you have a lovely back up. Glad you liked the demo and as we said there's not a huge difference between the two. I'm happy with my choice tho.

Mounted some lci darklines last weekend that had been in the garage for a while. I had been more than happy with the pre face lift ones but fancied a change (common theme 😄).
Fitting was straightforward enough with just a few wires to change in the connector and they bolt right back in.They came supplied with some LEDs however one was missing which is the tail/fog light at the top. This unfortunately made the indicator flash fast so going to order one soon. If anybody can link me a replacement I would be forever grateful. The ones I have my eye on come in a pack of 2. Kept the LED reverse lights and replaced the others with the halogen ones to keep me going for now.
Of course the main reason for getting these was to run the LED bars as drls but that is beyond my electrical capability not to mention I've no way of doing the necessary coding. Should of looked into this more before hastily buying them 😄🤦‍♂️
Anyway a poor picture as is the rules
