Hi All,

I have been reading the entire thread but I haven't found the answer for

1. Anyone actually tried using consumer grade SD card on the BMW ACE 2.0? I know from Rick that it is recommended to use industrial grade but did anyone tried and did it work? I saw one consumer grade like "SanDisk MAX ENDURANCE microSD™ Card" seems to indicate it can withstand continuous recording. But it never mentioned if this is a MLC or TLC architecture.

2. I heard someone mentioned going to try higher capacity like 64GB card. Did it work? Anyone tried higher like 128GB or 256GB?

Thanks! :D

Hi All,

I noticed that my memory card is not really the specification as noted on the manual.
On the manual, it says "32 GB micro SD class 10 MLC".

Below is the factory memory card I got from the box and it says "MTSD032AHC6MS-2WTCS"

I went ahead and Googled the model number and I found this saying "TLC" instead of "MLC"...are you guys having the same model of micro SD or I got conned... :-?

I bought the 32gb MLC MicroSD card at the link below for my ACE 2, it's worked fine for 10mths since I bought it, I've kept the original card in my car as a back up if required. This card is MLC which means it's better for constant rewrites and supposedly has a longer life than TLC....

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MLC and TLC

Hi, I just bought my BMW 6 months ago and installed ACE 2.0 at the same time, however, i encountered a problem and hopefully to get some help here.

I have always switch on the driving recording + parking recording. Last week while I was driving there was an accident happened behind me and after getting home, I wanted to check what exactly happened during that time and opened my ACE 2.0 recording files. However, there is no driving recording, it was like on some day it records and other day it doesn't. I don't know what caused this problem and I am quite tech savvy myself. I checked all the settings they are ok, there are also driving recording but just not consistent throughout all the days. Some are recorded and some are not.

Wondering if anyone encounter this before and what is the solution? thanks in advance.

My firmware is 1.44 and i have change my sd card to sandisk endurance 128gb (or 256gb) cannot remember very well.

Did you take the card to a PC to check if it had the recordings on it, the ACE 2 App is very unreliable. Also did your front camera say "recording mode on" when you started the car before that journey. My M135i is just over a year old and my ACE 2 seems to work fine, any issues I've encountered have been due to the terrible App so I decided if the App wouldn't connect to the camera to show recordings or it connected but didn't show my recordings I'd check the memory card content on a PC using VLC Player.

thanks for your reply. I have read through this thread from page 1 to page 13 and gain a lot of knowledge from it.

I am still at work now, a few things I will try later:

1) Take out SD card and check using PC whether there actually is any recording or not which does not shown on ACE2.0 app. (using iphone)
2) Reformat SD card using PC and run update on TN2020.01 firmware update issue.

Yes update. I pull out my sd card and try view using PC, and all the driving mode recording was there, however ace 2.0 app failed to show those files. So ya the device itself is ok, the app is trash. Thanks rick for the help.
Glad your ACE 2 is OK as long as you know it's recording that's the main thing, the App is only really to set it up and view recordings, I find setting up is fine the problem is viewing recording....

SOLUTION:

I read through most of the comments here and then concluded the best way to share the clip is to Screen Record your clip while playing it in the ACE 2.0 app. I plugged in my headphones while doing that and it also recorded the audio... Just as good as having an export button!

The best way to share footage is to take the memory card to a computer and copy the recorded footage files to the computer. Then use VLC to play front and rear view footage. Screen recording sounds long winded....

I managed to view and save the file I wanted on a laptop. I discovered that the front cam always stopped recording after 60 secs!! I tried the reset button to return to factory defaults but it still required the password used by the previous owner. I rang the dealer who sold the car and fitted the cams. Very helpful and checked an internal forum to find out how to reset. Hold the Mic and power buttons in together and job done, connected phone using defaults and then changed settings and password. Will see how it behaves over next few weeks.

Hello,

Hoping someone can help.

I purchased a 2021 BMW 330i with ACE 2.0 as an option. I have been able to get to the point where I connect my phone to the camera wifi . Once this step is done, it tells me I have to update the firmware, which I do, however after it completes the update, it is stuck in a loop and keeps telling me I have to update the firmware again.

I have tried this on 2 Android phones and an iPhone and it does the same thing for all.

Thanks

Did you connect to wifi via the ACE 2 App, if not clear the App cache and try again or uninstall and reinstall then start the App and when it it says to continue without wifi or with select with and connect that way....

Rick I have read all of your posts and they are helpful, although nobody seems to have experienced the firmware loop I am experiencing.

I have been able to view recordings off the SD card via VLC, however because I am unable to connect to the camera because it keeps asking me to update the firmware, I am unable to change the settings. Can settings be changed via the settings file on the SD card?

Lastly, to clarify, I am able to connect to the camera via the SSID I set up and the light on the camera turns green showing its connected, however I am greeted on the app with the firmware update page and can not get past it even though I install the update...thank you

Hi,

this is exactly what I experienced today. I got my brand new ACE2.0 today. I can connect via app, but it always tells me to update my firmware. Find attached screenshot for further details.

Is it a bug? :eek2:

Because Micom-version is already up2date, the one and only difference is the "V" in the available version. And have a look at the firmware version. It says it has V1.230 installed and V1.46 is available. But 1.46 is much lower, so older?

Thats weird! And very annoying, because you can't get into the app to configure the cam or to view the videos.
Yesterday I contacted the support (support@ace20.de). Lets see, what they say.

Perhaps it's the best, if you contact them, too. Maybe this is a problem in general (server-side or app-side?)...

This is the response I received from support, and coping the file manually worked.

Thank you for contacting us.

Please try to manually update the main firmware of the camera.

For this please download the file from the webpage below and copy it to the main directory of the SD-card of the ACE.

After starting the camera (ignition on), the update will install itself.

This update will last up to five minutes.

If the issue persists, please test again with another SD-card.

Best regards

The ACE 2.0 Support Team
