We use a Triple QX fully synthetic 5w30 at work and have had no problems with it. It's about the specifications it meets more than anything, if it meets the specification of the recommended oil in your car then you should be fine.

If your changing every 7k I would imagine Castrol Magnatec would be sufficient.

 

It is ECP's own brand.. therefore exclusive to them and cheaper. It does meet the standards... but there are better oils out there

Anything you can recommend cheaper than castrol?

Hi all, I've just bought a 199 lt barrel of this for work as have heard quite good things about it. I actually got told it was Comma oil re branded by ECP. Looking at the ECP website though it's only showing to be £3 cheaper than the castrol oil, would the castrol not be a better buy at £3 more and then it takes any doubts you may have away?

 

I work for an oil company and if I had to pay those prices I would cry my eyes out.

Triple X is carlube oil owned by chemical firm Terosyl they make oil for Asda, Tesco etc and also paint in aerosol cans, car shampoo and lots of other random cheap car items. I wouldn't put it in my car personally, not an oil brand snob, just conscious that its the only thing preventing metal to metal contact, and I want a good base oil and shear stability for as long as possible especially with turbo charged cars. Nothing fancy but most of the premium brand oils will give you this and possibly some piece of mind.

Comma is owned by Mobil which is Exxon Mobil and a subsidary, also Esso in the UK is owned by Mobil. Comma oil is pretty good and official partner to the FIA championship GP2, so while that doesn't make it the best it has considerable access to base oil and performance technology due to its parent company.

I have used it, and would do in the future.

Personally i don't like switching brands though, especially if a car is long running on one oil...
