Firstly, I've had a search don't think this video has been posted on here and I think this video deserves more views!

Standard M140i done the Nurburgring in 7 Minues 54 Seconds, Respectable time considering it's a non M car.

Wowzers, you see the rate of knots he passed that Skyline ( think it was a Skyline) :lol2: at 4.40 ?? Driver must have shat his pants. Impressive drive to say the least, looks a bit of a twitchy handful at times but was kept nicely under control.

Excellent software but why was track so empty?

Its a lot more easy to get times like that when the tracks that empty, i really need to do a proper track day there not just the tf days, less risk of tools being on the track 😂, i wonder what the bmw test drivers times were.

It actually proves nothing of the sort
Indeed. I would say considerable time was lost in NOT having a LSD.
Well M2's are typically doing 7.52

You can add anouther 25+ seconds to the m140 time for a full lap, thats a B2G time. Your seasoned track guys round there are doing high 7.3X's - 7.40's B2G Laps with stock m2's.

Anyway a sub 8 minute lap in a stock m140 is very impressive, even if it does look on the edge at times &#x1f44d-1f3fb;

Very nicely driven but you can really see the limitations of the standard dampers there. It was like the car needed to settle for half a second before the corners could be attacked fully.

Great lap time. Goes to prove all these reviews who state it's crying out for an LSD talk out of their @#~'
Not really. AFAIC, my LSD is all about improving the driver experience and controllability with reduced input from nanny.

From someone who has driven Nur in a 1 Series with and without LSD, youre talking out of your arse.
So what were the two times then?

Never timed without LSD as it was first time there (and TF), first trackday with diff was 8.24 BTG, second was around 8.14 compositing times from fractious video :(

Going back with Cup2s on next year and hoping to crack 8's.

So you don't know how much better the diff is?

Do you struggle with superlatives?

Not only did I drive the car at Nur with and without a diff Ive also done Bedford, Snetterton and Rockingham (RIP) trackdays with and without, various other circuits and prob 20K without and another 15K with it fitted.

Regardless of times (already said it was TF, it might have been raining, I might have had a bad case of the flu, car could have been on a different map even) the car is undeniably more tractable, predictable and all round a load faster with an LSD fitted.

Its much, much better with a diff.

That looks like a comfy road car, with quite good tyres and a powerful engine, being pushed WAY outside its comfort zone, just to get a time.

Struggles with wheel control on the brakes, not keen to turn in, traction issues and very floaty diagonal pitching / looking most of the time. The engine and tyres are hamstrung by the road comfort derived chassis.

The clearly track familiar driver, was managing the chassis control issues most of the time. Looks like a frustrating drive to me.
Good engine and tyres, with a layer of treacle and blancmange between them!

He looks like he has the track confidence to go a lot quicker, if the car had some better suited damping / geo.

Often repeated to stay below 7 10ths in a standard M-Lite.
This looks like a perfect demonstration of why.

Looks bloody good for a standard road car to me.

I think he's saying, that he has vast experience of both configurations, plus a memory of his results.
The car did a decent time in the hands of the slightly unsympathetic driver, but clearly struggled for traction quite a few times.

I agree it looks fast for a standard road car, but not especially 'good' measured in performance car metrics.

Re the above....
You had suggested that folk with a differing opinion are speaking from their bottoms.
He with much quoted experience, felt this was directed at him, so suggested likewise of your opinion.

So what next? Perhaps dial up the passive aggression, or start talking about each other's bottoms some more

All quite apt for a topic related to 'Ring lapping :)
