Hi guys,

just wanted to know thoughts on the 18 Inch Riva DTM Black Alloy Wheels for a M140i.

I'm looking at a staggered (5 x 120 PCD) set so,
fronts: 7.5 offset 42
rears: 8 offset 34

Anyone else have them fitted? Are they a decent alloy for £500 for a set.

I was looking in replacing the "Riva" centre cap with a BMW replica one too.

:D

Look lovely, (not sure what colour your car is, but black wheels tend to go with most colours)
Can't really help with fitment though, sorry

Lots of pictures with that style around the interwebs, just not that brand...

I'd recommend researching a bit more and finding a more reputable wheel manufacturer to go with to be honest; owning a £40k car and putting cheap wheels on is like buying a Wagyu beef steak and serving it well done with potato waffles and happy shopper ketchup.

I bought some similar wheels (DRC) from Demon Tweaks last year and I recommend a square setup on 8" rims and 42mm ET (needs confirming as I bought 45mm ET and they are a gnat's tight on the front). Not sure if they are still available.
I see they have the RIVA wheels at DT but not for the square setup.

why do you recommend a square setup?

Gives a better driving balance dialing out some of the understeer and just seems to turn in better.

Gives more flexibility as you can swap them around if the need arises and/or to balance wear front/rear which some people like doing although I wouldn't recommend it as fronts wear differently to rears and will cause the tyres to wear faster whilst providing less grip.

In the event of just needing to change two tyres, contrary to my previous statement, you can put the new tyres where you like - personally, I prefer them on the front to allow me to turn rather than understeer although this is not the normal recommendation by the "experts".

You could also have a single spare if you feel the need.

You may have noticed, I don't like understeer. :D

If you're thinking of using MPSS, this maybe not a good idea as I think the tread on the 245 has relatively smaller grooves for water dispersion than the 225s and could be more susceptible to aquaplaning. I'm sure there's a comparison on here somewhere, maybe by Marco_Polo, but I can't find it.

Just to add 're the better turn in. It's also down to the lower profile and XL rated compared to standard fronts.

Are mp4s now available?
