Christ, if mine hadn't given in it would have had to go to the garage because I simply don't have access to that sort of stuff

I tried everything to get mine out, it wasnt happening

Lucky I was only striping it to replace it with m3 items

I tried oxy and 20tonne press nothing worked

Garage had a look and said 9 out of 10 times the shaft is seized in the hub (dont I know it!) and i could be looking at 4 hours labour each side plus new bearings probably... to the tune of £450! [emoji44]
So I've bought a hub puller and I'm hoping that will free the shaft!
Think it might be about time I bought an impact driver to save me a load of time!

I thought mine was but I've managed to get it out now without any damage so I think they just didn't fancy doing it to be honest. The job wouldn't have been that hard with the right tools and a ramp, couple of hours tops!

Possibly not, I didn't realise you could set it. How do I go about setting the distance?

Thanks Marco, seems all is not well though as I'm still getting the orange traction control light on it's own with code CC-ID 35. Haven't had it hooked back up to code reader yet so could it just be the new sensor is faulty.
I haven't done the n/s yet so there's every chance it could be that side now.
Brakes seem better for some reason too but that may just be in my head [emoji848]

Well finally got the driveshaft free from the hub this morning with a bit more punching. My wheel bolts weren't long enough for the hub puller of course! [emoji19] but hey it's out!
Here is the offending ring, cracked as you can see

So far no bearing damage so a very nice saving of £450! Well happy. I think I'll leave the passenger side until it gives me a problem though [emoji23]

We have a 10 ton klann hydrologic press that bolts on the the hub and pushes the drive shaft smoothly

Make sure you buy a well made one or it may be a waste of time

The companies that need to change the hub or bearings as well don't have the right tools for the job

It should be a nice sliding fit, no real problem refitting.

No luck getting the shaft out of the hub so it's off to the garage for them to have a look and see how much it will cost. If it's going to be a fortune I'm going to buy a universal hub puller and give that a go. My only concern if I get it out is will it go back in easy enough?

 

I had my local garage replace my passenger side abs ring and it ran me £400 for parts and labour so if you can do it yourself you could save a penny or two. I will be doing it myself next time one goes!

my local only charged me £120 to swap it over and think it was about another £50 in parts for a ring and padgid sensor.

I'm hoping it will be closer to £120, was that for one side or both? Surely on a ramp it shouldn't take longer than a couple of hours?

it was just the one side, think it was a couple hours work for them to get it all done.

 

Yeah I was robbed and the idiots put the cable for the wheel speed sensor back on too tight so it kept unplugging itself

Managed to get all the bolts undone, hub but off, but I can't get the shaft free from the hub? Is there anything I can try without damaging any parts? If not it's booked in at the garage on Wednesday but I had hoped to save a few quid by doing it myself.

Plus Gas, lots and lots of Plus Gas.

Let it soak for hours to penetrate, then give it a whack with a plastic (or other soft) hammer

It's currently soaking in Plus Gas so I'll give it another go tomorrow, fingers crossed. If not I'll just have to fork out for garage fees [emoji30]
