Okay i have been experiencing a strange sound coming from my JB4 / gear stick when i switch maps. However it doesn't do it all the time and here is what i have to do to get it to make the sound...

Engine on, car in D on my auto box, foot on brake pedal then when i change map there is a weird sound coming from my gearbox?

It doesn't sound bad at all but it is a rather strange anomaly. I am currently using the posi-tap (old) method of changing maps and if anyone has any ideas what it may be it would be interesting to know whats going on.

Have a listen below and see what you guys think...

Sounds like the stick is attempting to move from Sports to Park without being in S (try this : put it in Sports, Press P and see if the sound is the same).

It could be some programming he's done to make the lights flash in time with the map change (old version of can bus connection) and it's running those motors at the same time.

Tom,

As said in my earlier post, I can change maps either via SW buttons or via JB4 app on smartphone - no noise for the latter and only heard the noise using the SW buttons, out of curiosity due to Watts thread, with ignition on, engine off parked on the drive.

BP

Edit - I should mention with engine on [BCS HFC DP and MPE] I would not be able to hear the noise as its very faint - Watts you did well to record it unless of course your "noise" is much louder than mine.

I spoke to Terry Burger and his response was....

if its not under load its quieter

Trans flash makes a click sound. :)

He doesn't think it's an issue or anything to be worried about and I will just change maps when car is in nuetral or park anyway or use the iOS app.

Great news with my Bluetooth all, it appears it may of gone by customs without a charge and status is now customs clearance process completed. ;)

Hopefully have on or before Wednesday next week... :)
