I've been spending hours in different forums and on google trying to find a comprehensive guide or definitive answer to the question:
Can a Radio entry CD without screen be swapped for one with screen and idrive controller?
I'm planning on retrofitting a headunit WITH screen to my BMW F20 from 2013, this one currently does NOT have a screen as it has RADIO ENTRY CD (65129274900-01).
The headunit I'm planning on retrofitting is CI6840415-01 taken from a F20 with option: 663 RADIO BMW PROFESSIONAL as I can get my hands on it for a reasonably fair price.
The set includes the iDrive controller, screen and Headunit.
The real question is: Can it be done?
I know I'm going to have to cut my dashboard to make the screen fit and think of some way to mount it.
My main concern is the wiring, the iDrive controller needs +12v, GND, Kcan-H and Kcan-L if I'm not mistaken, can I just tap this into the Quadlock of my HU?
The new Radio control panel, does this wire in the same as the iDrive controller?
Are there any other things I need to buy before doing this install?
1.HU + Screen + iDrive controller
2.Console trim with cutout for iDrive controller
3.Aircon + Radio faceplate/controlpanels
4.MOST cable for communication with my new EXTENDED dashboard.
Is there any virginizing/coding I need to worry about?
