I think the Pro HU plays the beeps through the speakers, where as the Business HU required a separate sounder.

If you do have one, it will be in the boot, behind the drivers' side trim, roughly in front of the fuel filler.

Ahhh ok Marco thanks, I had a good look around that area and couldn't see anything.

Maybe the pdc unit is faulty then?

I might have to put this to the bottom of my list though, my new pride and joy is spouting faults! The dtc is coming on constantly indicating the abs/corroded reluctor ring fault,

My f/o/s wheel bearing is rumbling when going round right hand bends

And my power steering belt is being shredded, I presume by a worn crank pulley :(

Looks like this May get expensive!!!!

Any one have luck with dealers? under AUC warranty?

Cheers

Just adding my 2 cents...

I had a swimming PDC which was too far gone to repair.

From what I had read on the Internet, the water usually gets in around the vent, so I sealed things up:

This really didn't make much difference (I think it was still worth doing though for peace of mind). Fortunately we had a few very wet days and I found the main source of the water, it was coming in through the tail light:

Two of the three nuts weren't completely tight, so I removed the whole light, cleaned the seal, and nipped it up tight. I haven't had any water come in since!

As for the PDC unit, the old part number was 6982390 and I replaced it with a used unit with the part number 6982395. I had to use NCS Expert to reset the PDC back to the defaults but everything worked after that.

Hope this helps someone!

I'm pretty sure the problem is fully sorted but I put the new PDC inside a freezer bag just to be sure:

My parking sensors also didnt work since the day i bought the car. How frustrating. All fuses seem to be in shape.

So i used this guide now to get to the module itself and this guide was so helpful.

ive got my module out now and might i say it was bloody filthy down there.

ive got the unit in a bag of rice near my boiler right now.

Although i think this might not solve my problem. I think my module is broken. When you shake it. Feels like something broke lose inside. May consider buying a new module if it doesnt work once dried.

opened up the module.

 :? :eek2: DISGUSTING !!

I rekon the module has had it. As you can see from the pic a piece has broken loose. i cant get the circuit board out the box. i rekon the unit will need replacing. its surprising how such a concealed unit got exposed to such filth.

BMW :?

So anyway if anyone has a replacement for sale CHEAPPP let me know. BMW e87 1 series 2005 !!

Wow that looks toast!

Here is what mine looked like and it was completely stuffed:

I found a used one on eBay, I made sure they took pictures of inside and asked if it had any water damage before purchasing!

Cheers

My sensors stopped working about a month or 2 ago but I'm finally selling my e87 118d this month so this foggy Sunday will be spent pulling the PDC unit and checking it out myself. Will update later with pics and an update.

Also this is a great guide feel so much more confident removing this now having read through so many people doing the same, big thanks!!!!!

I forgot to mention that you probably want to fix the source of the leak first!!
Yeah I've filled up the well with tissue. To be honest it wasn't that flooded with water just dirty and damp.

Once dry and clean I'll looking into the source of the leak.

Any idea what my protocol should be as i am kind of unfamiliar with these things. Where does the water most commonly come in through.
