Fault 0416f - zero gear position adjustment

A minor but annoying issue happened today, I had to disconnect the earth terminal on my battery for not even a minuet. No big deal.

Then when I'd finished the work I was doing which was not anything electrical - just re routing some air lines - I started up the car and it pinged up the oil warning service light (not due by a long way) and a warning 'saying automatic start stop failure' along with the warning light on the dash when the engine is stopped and key removed.

I've done a fault code scan and all I have is: 00416f Zero gear position adjustment

I've never had the issue before and drove the car with no faults or service warnings to work today, into my workshop where I did what I needed to do then started the engine to this.

Any ideas anyone? I have done some searching and it looks like the neutral gear sensor needs recalibrating?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mate

I got the same fault code when I bought the car the fault was there. Did you manage to find out what it is ? Have you fixed that error ?

Yes mate, all fixed easy enough in the end - carry out a shift position reset with a decent diagnostics tool. I used an Autel system, I ended up buying my own one a few years later.
