Just swapped our F25 X3 for a G01 X3 and have been able to subscribe to the BMW Safety Camera app for it.
Looks like it's iDrive 7, same as my F40 M135i, so does anyone know if the app will become available for the F40?

Is Waze actually any good, I used it a few years ago and found it pretty poor, never used it since.
Is it worth a second try?
Definitely mate, it's improved from a couple of years back.

It does seem better/more stable on IOS than Android for me, but that could be my OnePlus phone [emoji23]

I use it over Google maps now, but appreciated you may have a different experience.

Waze is a bit cartoon like but it is excellent for safety cameras and mobile ones. Also good for potholes!

I have the safety cameras add on for my 3 series and they are brilliant with warnings (no audio sadly) appearing in the HUD. Bargain at ÂŁ20 per year for BMW. I am so hoping they add them to the 1 series.

I'd stick with Waze frankly. It's far from the prettiest mapping software but it is probably the most thorough. Google Maps is arguably slightly more accurate, but it doesn't give the 'necessary' warnings and alerts.

Waze IOS App - man do they have access to so much data .... Clearly location as that's its purpose but do they really need finance/contacts/search history/user content etc.
Well if Waze is owned by Google, of course it needs your entire life story! Lord Google, the biggest stalker in the world. Zuckerberg would be jealous. :lol2:

and I guess that's it ...

I remember my 140 when it had less than 100mls on the clock on the way to Wales and I got a drivetrain error (crank sender eventually - long story) I got all the pop up BMW data sharing warnings I had to accept before it reported it back to HQ and let me get the screen back.

If you've got Waze running on Carplay but you're not actually navigating to anywhere within it (so just shows the map while you're driving) do you still get the alerts?
Yep, sure do. Red light cameras, speed cameras...

Isn't Waze built into Google maps now?
Google bought Waze some years ago but they are still separate but I guess use the same map data. Google maps does not show speed cameras in the UK yet though. I hope they do soon. Also Carplay can show Apple Maps in the HUD so hoping for Google and Waze soon.
Although it shows route cards (next turning etc as text) it sadly doesn't show the mini map that the iDrive Nav shows in the HUD :(

Mine did the other day. I noticed a little blue camera sign appear on my google maps planned route when I plugged it in. Thought nothing of it and then cursed myself when I got to that location and lo and behold there was a mobile camera pointing at me. Seem to have got away with it though as it was well over three weeks ago and no NIP!! :D

Yeah, Google Maps does show speed cameras but it doesn't appear to be a comprehensive list - it deffo misses some. Waze on the other hand catches every camera I've come across
