Hello

Finally when I thought my engine light issues went after it came on for 2 days then off for a weeks it's back.

Has the following codes

P0597
P1554

Now doing a google one is todo with thermostats heater control open ?

The other was vannos solenoid sticking.....

Can I clean the solenoid? Is this possible and not too hard?

Thanks in advance

Don't bother cleaning the solenoids just replace them. £155 from cotswold. About a 30 min job.

Clear the codes and see if the heater one comes back.
By the way the vanos code is what will have turned your eml on.

Location of vanos solenoids:

Take one out at a time to make sure you don't get them mixed up.

You can clean them and swap them. Just prepare you self to change them in the future

To get them out, undo the bolts that hold the air intake scoop on at the front. Slide the scoop off the airbox. They are at the front of the engine right underneath the scoop.

There's a good comprehensive video on YouTube you can follow of you get stuck. Just search for n52 vanos solenoids replacement
Silly question but are there any moving parts which I will clean or is it just in one position until a current is passed through ??

Also would the eml go off or will I need to clear it

Thanks

No moving parts. Find the part number of it and Google it. You'll see what the look like. Soak in a cleaner of some kind.

You'll need to clear the codes.
Also might be worth resetting the adaptions too. You should notice a good improvement in throttle response, smoother running and more go go from low down.
Chickened out this morning... Too cold

Resetting adaptations ?

Thanks

11367585425. You need two of those.

Head over to real OEM and use the last 7 digits of your VIN to find parts. It's a good site to be familiar with.
Cool

whats the real OEM site ?
