Yes, you also detach a wire from the rear of the wing indicator so that you can get the tank out. It would be a good time to clean the filters on the pumps too. When you put it back, there is one screw holding the tank in place, I would put some thread lock on that.

It's a bit of a faff, there is worse. I tend to find BMW's are reasonably good to work on when it comes to forward thinking repair wise but sometimes jobs can be overly long winded like the air filter on an M47.
