Just curious in what situations everybody sticks the auto box in sport. I seem to do it whenever I put the driving mode in sport or sport plus.
Easily solvedAndyKnight said:Maybe it's just me (slightly different topic) but I wish the step down on the accel pedal wasn't there. I stomped on the accel pedal today to do a quick overtake and the step down was violent and must be completely mechanically un-sympathetic. I'd already dropped a couple of cogs manually with the paddles for the overtake but the step down hit as well which was just painful as I was already in the last 3rd of the rev range before it decided to drop one more cog.
Surely the ECU/ gearbox should prevent a step down from happening if the revs are already up that high as there's nothing to gain?
Would this also apply to a manual?marco_polo said:Running in is the best time to use Sport, prevents the revs being too low. Don't cane the car though!
No, you have a choice not to labour the engine about with excessively low revs.I4N said:Would this also apply to a manual?marco_polo said:Running in is the best time to use Sport, prevents the revs being too low. Don't cane the car though!
Not really, just hold on to gears a bit longer in your manual, don't go uphill at 30 in 5th etcI4N said:Would this also apply to a manual?marco_polo said:Running in is the best time to use Sport, prevents the revs being too low. Don't cane the car though!
I always put it in sport mode as I approach roundabouts and take it out as I leave the roundabout, a bit like how you would normally drop a gear in a manual car. Keeps the car more stable with the engine braking and allows you to power out if necessary ;-)AndyKnight said:Just curious in what situations everybody sticks the auto box in sport.
