How long before you collect your car can you pick you plate? I will only have it on for 6 months (till the 66 plates come out and my private plate will be going on) so it doesn't really matter what it is but i would still like the choice to pick it.

You generally do not get a choice these days as dealership puts details into DVLA system and it returns a registration number.

When I bought mine last year, the dealership gave me a list of 5 or 6 to choose from - it wasn't until the car had been delivered to the dealership; a few days before collection.

I think it depends on the dealer whether you get a choice or not.

I haven't had any choice on my last 6 cars but my Mum did on her's but that's going back a while now.

As mentioned it all depends on the stealership! If you're lucky and your sales person is on the ball you may get the opportunity to pick from a list...otherwise it's the admin dept that quickly process the plates when the car arrives, as this happened to me. My salesman was on lunch and the girl in admin had assigned the plates before he got chance to call me!!

I'd already spoken to the Dealership when we placed the original order and following arrival they sent me a list of 55 different localised plates to choose from so I'd be on to your Dealership as soon as possible and request the same if possible?

Same for me - I asked at point of order if I'd be able to choose anything, about a week before delivery I got a list of 8 - 10 to choose from. One of the reg's on the list was on an M4 the day I collected mine.

Does depend on the dealer, managed to get one with my initials in. Didn't ask for it, dealer just sorted it for me.

Same. I was offered a choice of two with my initials.

I asked my dealer yesterday if it was possible for my son to pick the reg. He said it would be no problem. Don't know how many registrations we will get to pick from but it will be fun for my son. My car is due at the end of January.
