I'm after a bit of advice, if you knowledgeable chaps can point me in the right direction that'd be much appreciated.

I'm looking at a set of rims to stick my MPSS on for summer. The ones I'm looking at are:

Front: 18x8J ET 35

Rear: 18x8J ET35
Or
18x9J ET40

Can anyone see any fitment issues? I keep changing my mind about square or staggered setup, is the larger size on the rear a bit extreme?

Thanks

I think I'd be tempted to have the ET40's on the back to move the centreline of the tyre in 5mm.

There's plenty of room at the front, but the rear is a little tighter. ET35 would just fit on the back though, depends how stanced you want it to look?

Having staggered alloys keeps the stretch more equal too, if you're running 225 fronts and 245 rears.

Cheers MP, ET40 on the 9inch though? I like the look of wider rears but don't want to do it if it's going to cause issues at any point

Your centreline and my CL will be the same, it's just your rear tyre walls will have a little more stretch than mine.

Would having some stretch on the front but none on the rear annoy you (visually)?

I'm not a huge fan of the stretched look but have seen Br0wny's and it doesn't look bad at all! Would a 255 work with this width and offset?

Apologies for all the questions!

Browny has just bought 255/35/18 PS4 to replace his 245/35/18 MPSS rears - watch this space on the thread below

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

PS4 at the back and MPSS at the front - did I hear someone say - LAB RAT ?

PS - Only kidding Browny

with a 255/35 back there, I think you'd need ET45 approx to avoid arch contact.

(255 won't fit on an 8" safely, limited to 245 max according to ETRTO).

The 255 would've just been to eliminate the stretch a little. Think I'll go square. If I don't change my mind completely before I get back next month!

Cheers for the help

Dan,

9" rear max offset ~ 45mm. 40mm will have wheel face proud of the body work unless you wind on more -ve camber but then that defeats the object of having 9" rears.

Heres my car with 8" ET 34mm and OEM MPSS [on H&R's at the time] to illustrate that 8" ET 35mm will work fine.......

What wheels are they?

Assuming a OEM BMW wheel off another model? And this is where the offset difference comes from?

P'bull,

As MP says - OE BMW style 397's fitted F30 3 series.

8" 34mm ET ie more aggressive offset ~ 18mm F&R compared to stock 7.5/8 staggered rims.

I'm not a fan of standard finish [mix of machined and painted] so mine are painted B55 OE Ferric Grey.

I like them! Are they easy/expensive to source?
