As the title says.. what's the best stuff/the best way to bring the original black back!

With engine trims and general plastics I find silicone spray works very well, although it may be quite hard to use this on a mesh type grill unless you were to remove them and doit off the car,

303 Aerospace Protectant works well to bring a clean, satin finish to black plastic.

You have to differentiate cleaning and dressing/sealing. Any household All Purpose Cleaner will do for cleaning at 1:8 dilution. No point applying an expensive product if you haven't cleaned/decreased that way first.
