Looking through the adverts the cars are so varied.

Some seem like they have no options but are priced very close to ones that have been bought with added extras.

Any info would be great on what you consider a must.

Thanks

Edit* I've just realised this may be better in the option section of the forum. Sorry

After going from a 3 series with Business Nav, to a 125i with no nav, thinking we wouldn't miss it, I'm so glad to have Pro Nav in our M-Lite. Definitely Black Panel, if you can find it and some kind of Navigation then.
Personally I'd also want auto dim/electric folding mirrors. Sun Pack is nice, but you can always get the windows tinted. Climate control over standard Air Con is also nice - you get not just dual zone control, but also air vents for the rear and the warm/cold wheel on the front dash, which I love.
Our M-Lite has got through-loading and although I didn't think I'd be that bothered about it, if you've got, or are going to have kids, I think it's a must. Having that center armrest with the cupholders in is a god-send!!
You'll want Xenons too - it's like driving in daylight!!
From reading articles, standard audio is a no-no - at least advanced is a must, if not H/K. Also USB with Extended Bluetooth, so you don't have to mess around with 'Y' cables for iPods/iPhones.
If you're looking at an M-Sport model, try and get one with the M-Sport Plus (I think it's called that) - You'll get H/K, big brakes, Xenons and Sun Pack.
I think that's about it that I'd look for if/when buying again. Oh, heated seats, especially if getting leather!! Electric seats with memory are also really nice, but I wouldn't say a must!!

For me it would be Xenons, PDC front and rear, dual zone climate and dimming /folding mirrors
on msport spec.

I would definitely get black panel display, sat nav of some form, folding mirrors (which I didn't spec :( ), dual zone climate. I think M Sport looks the best too

Yeah, definitely try and get front and rear PDC, if only so you can have the button turn manually turn the bloody things off (especially if you go for a manual car!) - Be careful though, many of the ads, especially BMW dealers, say that they have front and rear PDC, but they only have front.

Must-haves for me - HK audio, front and rear PDC, sport seats (if not standard), lumbar support, xenons, folding mirrors.

Now I've had it on my LCI, I don't think I'd buy a car without active cruise again, but that's not an option on pre-LCI cars anyway. Pro Nav is nice to have, but I didn't have it on my E87 and didn't really miss it - a TomTom or Garmin is probably actually better than the nav system.

I think most options are personal preference but I'd say that on an M Sport the essential extras are cruise control and rear PDC (drivers comfort pack that is I think?)
I reckon a 1er would feel very basic without those.

Personally I didn't even look at any that didn't have the above plus xenons and heated seats.

From the spec I eventually got I think that the Pro Nav makes a massive improvement to the interior and the connected drive services are excellent, the folding mirrors are very handy, the HK stereo is impressive and the extended light pack adds a touch of class.

I'd probably want all of the above in my next car now that I have them.

I'd be less bothered about the adaptive chassis and electric seats.

The only thing I'd spec that mine doesn't have is the M Sport plus pack brakes.

My budget is causing the issue here really.

I have seen an msport with:

Cruise
Rear parking
Servotronic steering
Sun protection
Rain sensor and auto lights.

Pretty basic tbh but overall a big step from my Astra I've had for 9 years
