Valve cover is off again.

Replacing the entire cover (again), Eccentric Shaft Sensor and the obviously the gaskets.

After wrestling the cover out, I realised I coulda made my life so much easier. Undid two more nuts and the whole up and over cable bundle came out the way! At least I have more room now for putting stuff back.

How dificult it is to replace the Eccentric Shaft Sensor? Mine is working well but some idiot that worked on the car in the past broke the connector clips.

If you can do the valve cover gasket, its crazy simple. It's just 3 screws to change, but it is under the valve cover!

Replaced drivers side mirror cap as the old one's clear coat had bubbled and flaked badly. Clear coat started bubbling on several bits rapidly all at same time; bonnet in a couple of spots where tiny innocuous looking chips previously were, and all the plastics - bumper cover and mirrors, all these happened in last the few months out of nowhere. Solar storms I reckon!

I've patched the bonnet bits just with a clearcoat brush pen. I never have much luck painting stuff though, so just bought and polished a sound salvaged mirror cap. Must keep more vigilant on those chips...

Removed my abs unit to send it off to ECU Testing tomorrow, hopefully they'll find a fault with it and I'll finally cure my damn soft brake pedal.

Yes sold the winter wheels. My commute has changed and saw no snow last year so figured the money could be spent on something else for the car.
Do you wish you had them still or not? I'm sad I missed the worst of the snow cos of my abs unit.

So, today I drove my car for the first time in about 10 days and I still love it.

I'll probably miss them for the few days a year we may have snow round my way but just driving to the conditions now and hoping all the wallies around me are doing the same.

Hope you get to the bottom of your brake issue and I can't remember if I still have my 130i callipers in the garage. If they're there and you want them let me know 👍

35 laps down before lunch. Car doing good. Having a good time but finding track a tad busy and basically everything is faster than me!

OFHG. Also changed mickey mouse flange. OFH screw near the mickey mouse was rounded off. I drilled to out, and put in screw/nut to relplace. Also had leak at upper radiator hose to heater hose, but purchased oring kit at Harbor Freight, and one worked. what an oily mess. Also had a bit of oil in coolant, but changing fluid seems to have gone away.

My 130i sailed through its MoT today with only 2 advisories for deteriorated front brake hoses which I already knew about and had placed in the too annoying to be fun category, now I know I definitely won’t be doing big brake conversion I’ll sort them out when the weather gets nicer, I know for a fact it means the brake lines as well after doing the rears.

Not the 1 series but the X1: new brake discs and pads at the rear. Bosch, perfect fit. And I am positively surprised to see how good it all looks after 320000 km and 13 years. People complaining about bad quality of beemers, I don’t see it.
And I ditched the anti theft bolts from the wheels, who wants standard (not so pretty) wheels? A sinlge bolt was only €1.40, made by febi and identical to the oem ones.
