I'm buying my car from a dealer which is 50 miles away (was cheapest i could get in the UK) and obviously if it needs any warranty work i will be taking it to two of my local dealerships.

How are people finding a different dealership you bought the car from deal with problems with the car?

It shouldn't make a difference at all?

The BMW warranty is UK wide, any dealer has to get a warranty claim authorised with BMW UK, and frankly they should be glad of the business?

If you have a particularly good relationship with some folks at your dealer, then my experience is that they might be a bit more willing to 'go into bat for you' a bit more around tricky warranty issues, but in theory no difference should be apparent.

Where did you end up buying the car from?

My car came from Eastern BMW Edinburgh as they were almost the best quote, but they could pull a car that the other dealers couldn't get.

I found Peter Vardy in Edinburgh time wasters. They were miles off the quotes from other dealers too.

Douglas Park in Glasgow. I originally ordered from Eastern but cancelled as i never really looked into the M135i and thought £4k off was good at the time. I got a quote from TRL but got Douglas Park to match it so it saves me the 440 mile trip each way and 2 days of my life lol. Peter Vardy were £1700 more expensive and said it's impossible for a dealer to do it for the price i got it from.

I called around all the dealers and told them I needed a car immediately, had found a white M235i in stock, and asked for their best quote on the car knowing it was the best price would get the order on the day.

Vardy wouldn't quote and said phone them last and they would beat any quote I had received, as they were the biggest and best dealer, nobody could do more than they could. Got all my quotes and most were within £100-200 of each other, it was that tight and they all clearly knew the margins and quotes I would get.

Phoned back Vardy and gave him my best quote. He said there was no chance any dealer could get near that price. I pointed out there was another 4 dealers offering near enough the same price and he still questioned it. He said he was miles away from my quote, but didn't say how far in money terms.

Aberdeen were surprisingly the best quote, so I ordered from them. It turned out the other dealer wouldn't allow them the car. They did offer a factory order for the same price, but I couldn't wait 12 weeks as I didn't have a car.

Eastern were the next best and they did eventually manage to get the car after being initially refused.
