Sharing a platform with the U11 X1 and upcoming F70 1 Series, the iX1 will be the first model to bring BMW i's electric aspirations to the BabyBMW fold.

With a WLTP range of up to 267 miles, the launch model xDrive30 is the first all-wheel-drive electric car introduced by the brand in the premium compact segment. Two highly integrated drive units at the front and rear axles deliver a combined output of 230 kW/313 hp, and post overall torque of 494 Nm (364 lb-ft). The electric all-wheel-drive system ensures supreme traction and directional stability in all situations. The BMW iX1 xDrive30 completes the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 5.6 seconds.
The U11 will be the first of BMW's compact models to use BMW's Android-based iDrive 9 operating system, with the single curved screen and new QuickSelect functionality to almost replace the memory buttons which iDrive 8 removed.

The launch iX1 xDrive30 starts from a fairly lofty £53,000 OTR before available discounts and incentives, with lower-cost models expected in due course.
