yep, i have reset it twice, and it has gone through the 0 to 100 percent and it says it has finished but there are no readings on the monitor. deffo been above 20 mph. the new wheels/tyres feel great and are a vast improvement over the old but no readings. could they have been fitted wrong? there were no instructions in the box.

about 10 miles out to the beach and it didn't detect them, when i told it to do it again the option was "greyed" out so i had to stop, get out of the car and lock it then unlock it and it would check again on the trip home. it went to 100% both times, all the tyres were in the green but no figures next to them so how did it know?
it's unlikely i bought 5 faulty ones so i was wondering what powered them and there wasn't a tab to be pulled out to connect the battery or what?
i didn't watch the wheels and tyres fitted myself i just dropped them off in the morning and picked them up in the afternoon. other than that my et40 superleggera 8 inch wheels and yokahamas feel great on the road and that is the maximum width you can use and have a spare that fits anywhere. there is a bit of space on the fronts but the backs are level with the wheel arches and i wouldn't risk another 5mm there. wouldn't like to fit 5 rugby players in it though as i'll bet there would be some rubbing noises over the bumps.

4 on the car, the spare is in the garage not to interfere with this process as you recommended, incidentally 33psi seems about right on it thanks but it's biggest problem was a michelin on the back paired up to a cheap indonesian tyre to pass it's first mot made it very skittish, haven't been happy with it since i bought it but it feels 100 times better now.

pressures were all over the shop before as i had 2 slow punctures (different speeds of course!) on the front and i noticed the back tyres could go up 5 psi if you put your foot down so i am a 33 all round and filled with nitrogen for stability.

lo and behold, after 189 miles the tyre pressure monitors suddenly started working on their own. needless to say i had put the spare in the boot by this time so i dont know which 4 tyres it is actually monitoring. the readings are basically 36 and 32 on the front and 35 and 34 on the back (supposed to be 33 all round). i don't know who is more accurate, the ats nitrogen machine or my made in china bmw pressure valves. i have a middle of the range halfords digital tyre gauge and i will measure them all on that tomorrow so at least i can see how they compare to the other readings. not noticing how much they change the rears under acceleration due to endless traffic but nitrogen isn't supposed to vary much under heat.

BMW TPMS is usually within 2PSI.

I think I'd remove the spare again (for one local journey) to see if it fails again. Spare/stationary wheels should only broadcast occasionally (to save battery), but it is possible the car has locked on to an incorrect 4th serial number.

I don't trust any digital gauge, I use a RaceX

Ok, need help pleasssse.

Was absolutely set on VMR wheels. But have since found out the 18's don't fit on the m140 as it fouls the calliper with the valve.

I'm ideally looking for 18x8.5 and 18x9 or even 9.5.

Any suggestions? I've been scouring this thread and seen plenty of wheels I like (OZ/BBS) but generally they appear to be square setups?

I wish I could suggest that money is no object, but it is, so realistic pricing would be good (under 1000 for a set would be great, 1200 would be acceptable if they're light/flow formed or whatever).

I love 5 spokes also. Silver ideally. Maybe gunmetal.

I've been searching on and off for ages now and either they don't do staggered sizes, or they look horrible.

Any ideas welcome!

BBS CH-R come in 8" fronts and 9" rears, available in silver and anthracite. specifically designed to fit the F20, roll forged for strength, top quality, plus good residual value should you ever need to resell them.

i like the look of the racex and it isn't dear either. have ordered one and will wait for it to arrive, remove spare and try and get a definitive answer because the halfrauds digi jobby wouldn't give me the same results i was expecting and my expectations were well low to begin with.

why if the tpms's are only accurate to 2 psi do they go to 0.1 of a psi on the screen? are they taking the p1ss?. i don't know how to blow up wheels to that level of accuracy. i don't even know if my local ats's nitro machine is even calibrated or how often, sometimes you have to go off faith because there is nothing else.

the yokohama advance fleva's are the best tyres i think i have ever had on a car, of course we will have to see how long the back ones last on a car like this before i deem them to be the best tyres in the world ever. golden rule is the grippier they are from the off, the less longer they last. time will tell.

Marco, the stainless rim protector ; is that a permanent thing? I don't like the sound of that :(

It's held on with double sided tape, so semi-permanent I guess?

On silver rims it's basically invisible, but they do show up on the darker colours.

It's not all bad though, it protects the alloy rims from even heavy kerb damage, and can be replaced if it gets marked up:
