Evening all, just started with a new company and I get a £30k budget for the company car. I have had an E81 before and loved it, so heading back that way but was wondering about the extras I chose?

Would you kindly offer me some advice on the choices and maybe suggest changes if people have had experiences with them?

BMW 120D M Sport 5 Door Alpine White

Options...

Black Dakota Leather
Brushed Aluminium and High Gloss Black trim
Loudspeaker System - BMW Advanced
Folding Mirrors Auto Dimming
Sun Protection Glass
M Sport Breaking System

All coming in at £29950 :) :) :)

Thoughts?...

You'll have to go with the list price I think. Thats what your company car tax will be based on.
How many miles will you do? More miles should equal more comfort in terms of spec I'd think. I'd ditch the M brakes and spend the money on something comfort orientated - heated seats / comfort pack.

I think I'd have;

118d Msport
Auto gearbox
Adaptive suspension
Advanced loudspeakers
Black panel display
Interior comfort pack
Driver comfort pack
Then pick one from - Through load or heated steering wheel or high beam assist.

Drop the leather. Alacantara seats are nice. Saves a fair whack for some other toys like getting HK instead or pro nav. Would also drop the blue calipers from M Sport brakes - its a 120d afterall!
Driver comfort and interior comfort would be useful, as is reversing camera.

Thanks for this...

defiantly going with 120d.... having had the two different engines there is just too greater gulf between that and the 118d, almost different cars!

Black Leather + Black Trim
Folding Mirrors
Sun Protection Glass

Realistically that is all I would ever use! So I have removed or decided against...

M Sport Braking (Blue callipers sold it but as said its only a 120d)
Loud Speaker (got a 2 year old so the missus is always turning it down)
Auto gearbox (missus can't get on with auto)
Driver comfort (nothing there I would notice)
Interior comfort (cars too small to benefit auto air con)
Heated steering wheel (live in Devon so never cold enough)

Even things like electric seats... How often do you move your seats?? the missus has her own car!

Thinking about black panel full display but is it worth it?

The black panel display is worth it I think. Lifts the dash up a notch for relatively little money.
Leather - heated seats?
If your wife doesn't drive it why worry about an auto box? It's brilliant it really is. Have you had a test drive of one?

Deffo for black panel display if not having pro nav. I'd go with m sport brakes mate as it really does improve the cars look, and to be honest our choices, when it comes to a car, are a lot to do with its appearance! Auto box is very good as is HK sound system, as standard sound system is very poor. I have leather but really wish I had alcantara seats, tell you what I'll swap with you

You'll want HK. Its for work right? How often are you karting your family around? When not, turn up the volume :)

If leather is a must then heated seats will help for sure.

Black panel is a must, I've had both and its better to have it as you'll get nav directions/turn offs in your dash as well.

I mentioned interior comfort as it comes with extended storage and lights. Extended storage is very useful with extra 12v sockets throughout the car and storage nets behind seats and in the boot.

I would go with:

120d
MSport trim
Auto box
MSport brakes
Alcantara seats
Metallic paint

My 118i (bought pre-loved, pre LCI) has this spec and A) I don't get a cold butt when starting in the morning, B) I can drive it all day in regular A-road and M-way traffic and still have a blast on the back roads without burning loads of fuel; of course diesel more frugal but sounds like a tractor. 120i has replaced the 4 cylinder 118i.

staying away from Auto as that will take me over my budget, plus the missus will drive it every now and again and she has only been driving a year, love the auto but other options I would prefer!

was going for the leather as I am constantly spilling coffee etc plus my daughter will be in it a lot so wipe clean is the way forward! That and I think it just love the look and smell leather gives a car!

Heated seats, again it ain't really cold enough down here plus nobody like Betty Swallocks....

Am I right in thinking Nav is now standard as is LED headlights?

may just have to go with it and go white with m sport brakes black leather, tinted windows (reason been my old 320d m sport had them and my daughter would chill right out on long journeys - excellent if you have kids in my opinion)

Sounds like a good spec to me.

Go with what makes you feel best. Which clearly the M Performance brakes do.
They look good behind the wheel and add a lot to the appearance.

Just means you blow your budget sooner. But that doesn't matter as you have made your mind up.

Now just press that order button.

£550 is a lot just to have blue brakes?, especially when its to the detriment of other options which will be used far more.
Sounds like you've already made up your mind though so I'm not sure what you were hoping for in terms of suggestions?

Extended storage is standard on the LCI. Interior comfort pack is now automatic aircon, auto-dim rear view mirror and extended interior lights.

As others have said, if budget is tight, M Sport brakes aren't worth it - there is nothing wrong with the performance of the standard brakes unless you are planning to use the car on track, and £500 is a lot of money to get the calipers painted blue... For that, I'd get the HK speakers instead, as the standard stereo is pretty useless.

Don't get wrong this is all helpful... just wondered if anyone had any direct experience. I suppose when you think about it £550 adds £11 quid a month to the tax as it affects the P11D price.

Hence blue brakes worth £11 a month? probably not :)
