I wouldn't be surprised if the M140 doesn't materialise.BMW were on about changing the 1 series into FWD,so would it really make sense to change the engine at this stage?
The M chief executive also hinted that any performance enhancements will be aimed at the F22 chassis,so no M1 (or whatever they would have called the equivalent of an M2)

The M240 is rumoured to be going ahead in later this year/2017.

I heard similar to this.

The 2 series is very likely going to get the 240 badge. But not the current 1 series.
I did here that as the current 1 series comes up for replacement the 135i will get a 'special edition'. However, this is likely to be a rummage around in the m-performance part bin and a special paint job. Which to be honest seems a little pointless to me.

As always, this is based on what I have heard. Which has come from others and it not verified in any way at all.

Personally I think it will appear about 6-8 months from end of production as a highly specced run-out model, here's hoping anyway cos I'm going to buy one if it does.

When I was ordering my M135i a month ago my dealer told me, that my car will get B58 engine instead of N55. Maybe BMW is going to update the engine without changing the badge.

However, as a previous owner of an Interlagos E46 M3cs, a rummage around in the ///M box and a special paint job worked out very well!

This is interesting to read. Maybe the M135/235i with the N55 engine is the best option to go for now rather than wait for a B58 variant....

You make a good point here.

I read an article last night (found it on another forum) suggesting that the N55 is a 'better engine' than the B58.
However, how does someone determine a better engine?
So many variables from reliability through to power output.
The article I read suggest that the B58 will be cheaper to produce due to its modular design. But harder to tune which is why the M2 has a reworked N55 engine (with bits from the S55 engine for good measure).

However the B58 is more economical and more powerful out the box than the N55. Bear in mind the N55 has gone through four variation itself to get to where it is today with the power and torque delivered at this level and reliability.

Time will tell I guess.

I can also confirm that the M140i will be released later this year with the B58 engine and a power boost over 326hp.
how can you confirm - are you in the trade with a reliable source or do you work for BMW?

For you? I'd rather boil my plums.

Oh go on then.

It comes from the same source that as7920 mentioned. He works for BMW (I seem to remember he works in a factory), and he's always absolutely spot on with his information. He says the M140i/M240i will have around 15hp more than the regular production models with the B58 engine, so expect a power output of about 340hp.

The 2 Series will not get thew LCI at the same time, but that will come six months later around March 17, at which time the M2 will also get the LCI changes (so rear lights).

It will be out in the next product actions in September on week 36 build. New 430i and 440i have been announced from week 9 build March.
Now showing on our internal configurator.
What's unknown is the price and whether BMW will put in as much support as they have on the current car.

Just to add and confirm what mofomat is saying is probably right, this info is all over the Internet from various website sources. No I won't provide links, if anyone is too lazy to bother reading stuff on the Internet then shame on you. lol :lol2:

You always get the doubters or the ones that set out to disprove things, it's like they think people have nothing better to do than to post random statements on a forum pretending they know it all when in reality their will have been websites that have already leaked information that people have read up on posting on here...

The truth is out there and Google is your friend... :lol2:
