Steering Weight

Covered about half a tank in the M140i now. Loving it!

Had to drive the Cupra today for a quick scrub up before BCA Collections come and take my pants down on wear and tear on Monday.

Immediately remembered how well sprung and damped it is, and how that's the first job on the new car, but then I started to realise that steering weight on the Cupra, even in Comfort mode, is way heavier than even Sport+ in the Mlite.

As it's electric, variable, and already changes between modes, can the steering be 'mapped' on the M140i to baseline a bit heavier?

Don't get me wrong, it's maybe a personal thing, and I'd easily acclimatise. Just idly wondering! :D

TPMS seems to report anything between 30 and 38, assuming it's reading high at temperature… I'll use the old fashioned method to check at the weekend when I can get some time with the car.

Was looking at B6 to retain the adaptive dampers, quite like having the variety, and I see the benefit of the F8X LCA/TS, but was shocked how much the wheel is de-centered in the arch as a result. Castor wins, I guess!

I think this is a standard bmw thing. Pretty sure it says 29 or 30 on my door too but everyone knows it not enough. Probably enough for runflats.

I'm running 33 cold all round and it seems bang on to me. Bmw state 36 in the rear and you just don't need that much unless carrying a bit of weight.

I think with stiff side wall tyres and M4 LCA then 32 psi would be ok. I ran it for a while but it felt a little bit squishy when pushing hard on assym 5 so upped it to 34 all round. Might have been ok with MPSS or F1SS

People tend to run higher pressures than 32 because of the outer shoulder wear.

It's all preference at end of day but 34 all round seems a good starting point.
