I had do take my cats on a long journey and one had an 'accident'. While there was no stain the smell lingered.....and lingered.
I read this some time ago in Honest John's column in the Telegraph. Don't know if it's useful, but it's certainly entertaining.

A pack of chicken fillets fell behind some tools in the boot of my Vauxhall Astra at the beginning of August. I didn't use the car for a month and, when I returned, the smell was indescribable. The car has been shampooed three times and subjected to incense sticks, air fresheners, anti-bacterial spray and bicarbonate of soda applications, but still the odour lingers. Help!
