When hearing an M235i and new M135i LCI, I find the backfires are a lot more noticeable, more pops and a deep full sound.

Anyone noticed the same?

Anyone know what's the difference? Maybe another size of the midpipe or something?

And is it's possible on an M135 from 2014? I have a 4" downpipe.

All in the programming Alex. The pops are all engineered into the ECU. Would love to trade it for a 235i just for the pops! The LCI now has the same output and engine software as the 235i.

Only had the LCI about three weeks and have had a number of comments about the noise at start up. The automatic rise in revs then settling down to a gentle rumble.Beautiful sound.

I noticed that when i got my m235i when compared to a lot of the m135i videos online. Pops and burbles a LOT! Especially in sport mode. I like it

talking of pops and bangs, When during a cold start I accidentally pressed on the accelerator whilst adjusting my seat, oh my god what can only be sounded as a gunshot as the revs fell back down. Not sure if it does damage when revving a little during cold start but it sounded good.

Browny I did notice in your pre-decat vid on youtube, yours does/did pop an awful lot more than mine. What type of fuel do you use? (not joking as I'm struggling to understand how its doing more) :?

Always used ultimate back in the day as BP garage was half a mile alway.

DME mapping may well be the only difference as JB4'd m135i and 235i sound the same map for map.

That's gotta be the upshift burp with the auto box. Such a shame!

I get an upshift burp on my manual pre LCI M135i with MPE as well as plenty of pops bangs and burbles, love it!

Wonder if the car your comparing it too had the fan and software update, I swear after getting mine back it was a different car, slower, quieter, parps on up shift which it used to do at reasonable acceleration has all but disappeared. Couldn't be bothered taking it in to be told it's all in my head. It's due a service so I might mention it then.
