Hey,

So long story short.... weather conditions were terrible, back end span out and hit the central barrier then hit the barrier on the other side of the road.

Both sides of the rear end are dented above the wheels, passenger side alloy will need replacing.

I know it's hard to say without pics, it's too dark at the mo to take any, but any idea roughly what a repair will cost? I think I'm looking at a new alloy, rear bumper, a rear headlight and both rear side panels. There doesn't appear to be any chassis/structual damage. Maybe a dent removal on the panels, I'm not sure it's a pretty long dent.

Would you guys recommend trying to get it repaired myself at a bodyshop or going through insurance and use a BMW bodyshop? Will the premium rise offset the repair cost?

Going to have to take the day off work tomorrow to sort it out :(

Thanks.

My guess, £2k. Wheel, suspension, bodywork, spraying, alignment. Maybe more £.

Depends how much suspension damage there is, and if the chassis has twisted. Any chassis damage and it's probably a write-off.

I've done a similar thing 2 years ago. Heavy rain and a flooded corner meant I met the curb

Fixed it at an accident centre with no insurance and cost me 1500 quid with no body damage.

Thanks guys.

I've gone through insurance, will be safer if the costs spiral and it sounds like they could.

Luckily my local Sytner was an approved repairer so that saved the silly £250 unapproved repairer charge. One bonus at least!

Car should be being collected today.
