Service Pack - VFM? - my stats

For people asking if the service pack is worth it, I'd say emphatically no unless you're keeping it for 5 years and doing medium mileage.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, the current service pack is 5 years/50,000 miles.

My 13 plate in 41500 miles and 33 months has required front and rear pads (not covered) and a single oil service. I think that service was in the region of £180-250 but I can't remember.

I've probably put 5l of oil in during that time.

Service indicators are showing brake fluid in 2000 miles, and next oil service in 3200 miles.

So to my mind, the service pack is only worth it if you're doing between 45-50,000 miles, in more than 35 months.

It also depends on the price you get it at. For example it was £800 when it was offered to me. Definitely not worth it at that price.

YMMV, but that's my experience.

I've always had it on my BMW cars, but got it for decent price. My current one for the m135i I picked up last week was only £450 - so a no brainer.
that's my point though. My car is going before the next oil service. So at £450, I'd have lost money.
Surely a 5 year service pack is only VFM if you keep the car 5 years! Can hardly criticise it if you sell the car after less than 3!
I was in the same boat with my 2013 E88. Paid £500 for the service pack and saw one service out of that before I traded it in for the M135i. I initially said no to the service pack at £550 but I've been offered it at £475. I'm still undecided but I'm thinking maybe it's not worth it.
I did the sums, and found it wasn't worth it if you do a lot of motorway running (like me).

Motorway driving extends the CBS intervals out to over 25k, so I would have only got one engine service out of it! Maybe two if I stomped my feet a bit.
I've probably put 5l of oil in during that time..............why it includes oil top ups !!! Pads and disc's are covered by the enhanced service inclusive.
If like me, you buy nearly new it's very worth while looking for a car with it already on (as most seem to have these days)

I've had 2 minis, a z4 and now the m135i all with service packs so I haven't paid for anything except tyres and a couple of sets of brake pads for the last 6 years :)

Exactly the same for me, first oil service, now coming up to 40k mostly motorway miles and it doest want a service till next year so it will be out of cover.

At your next service you'll also need air filter, micros filter, spark plugs AND the oil. That's about £600+ from BMW btw.

To be more exact its £618.65 from Coopers. Plus your brake fluid change. (Just checked)

When I bought mine (secondhand) last year I didn't even know it had a service pack until last Nov when it went in for it's 1st service. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this out when I booked it in!!!!

I have a replacement on order and will be getting rid before I hit that service. I guess my point is, unless you're hitting that service before the 50,000 mile mark, then it's not worth it. Seems like a narrow mileage window to me to make it worth it.
The stats don't take account of the residual value of a pack if you own the car.
Genuinely I don't think it's worth much on a car. It'd make it easier to sell, but I wouldn't pay more for a car with it on.
Just the sort of information i was searching for as it happens!

I've been offered the option of adding the service pack for £630 and wanted to push back and get it closer to £450/£500 as others have already mentioned

Mine came up about 38k miles but it doesn't get a lot of motorway use to be fair.

It certainly worth doing the calcs before taking the plunge - for me, I wish I'd taken it out as I'm subsequently severely out of pocket.

Mainly because I was told it would only need a couple of oil changes over the mileage and time I would have the car, which was **** advice in hindsight!

Lessons learned!
