Hi guys

just tried to fill up the tyres however caps are seized. apart from driver side one which has lost part of the thread as I attempted to "remove" the cap.

can understand me paying for the cost of this particular valve however when I spoke to my dealer they mentioned that if they couldn't take the other caps off without damaging the valve that would be down to me which I don't feel is reasonable.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

Chris

Just use a pair of pliers to grip the cap and twist hard. The caps are plastic; the valve ends are metal - you'll damage the cap rather than the valve. If that doesn't work, cut the top of the cap off with a Stanley knife.

Or just take the car to a fast-fit place and ask them to fit new valves; they won't charge more than a fiver each. (I've had them done for nothing in the past.)

Metals caps are a right pain. It's a cheap mod/mistake you'll only make once.

If the lube dries out underneath they often end up fused together.
At a main dealers for a tyre change a few months ago and the service manager happened to mention that they lots of issues with people using the metal caps.
