So last week I ended up with a screw straight into the centre of one of my winter tyres causing a slow puncture. I have ordered a new replacement (at £180  ) but was considering getting it repaired to keep as a spare. The tyres have only done 1000 miles and the tyre in question threw up a TPMS warning when it got down to about 32psi from 36 - so it hasn't been driven on flat.

What is everyone's thought on repairing runflats? No national places will do it, and the two independent places I have called with not do it "because it's illegal to repair them" (which it isn't...). It is worth finding somewhere to do it, or should I just grit my teeth and bin it?

I had one repaired after I drove a few miles n it flat, perhaps against much advice etc. I didn't have any issues and perhaps I was fortunate. I found a garage local to me who said the tear from the inside was much smaller than the outside apparently.

I would suggest a repair personally.

As long as they haven't been driven on deflated and the damage is in a repairable area (which yours is) then a repair is perfectly acceptable. Treat them the same as any tyre, if its been run flat then don't repair otherwise repair. I wouldn't even keep it as a spare, just repair it and use it.

Thanks guys. All I need to do is find somewhere to do it!

Any recommendations around the Amersham/Beaconsfield/High Wycombe/Watford area?

You could try etyres, a useful bit of info on the link below. I think they will come out to you as well depending on your postcode.

We had a repair done in our SMax on Sunday @ Kwik Fit. Right in the middle like yours and not driven whilst totally flat so they said it was OK to repair.

I got a runflat repaired on my daily a year or so ago with the full knowledge I was going to replace all four to "normal" tyres at the next MOT.

My local independent tyre place did it, bit rough and ready but it served a purpose.

I did struggle to find somewhere to repair but it's just down to the fact they are a pig to get off the rim and the only problem I encountered was some very slight damage to the wheel but again they were all going to be refurbished at the time of tyre change.

Thanks for that - sadly they quote that they will not repair Pirelli as the manufacturer doesn't recommend a repair to run-flat tyres. Perhaps I should have bought non-runflats for the winters! Would have been cheaper all round!
