On idrive you push "options" then scroll all the way down and there it is
Sat Nav map version
The latest version of maps for the Sat Nav is 2016-1. The web page says you can see what version you have loaded via the Navigation options menu - I quote from the web site "Please check the installed map version in the navigation options menu in your BMW".
