Pretty swift reply from continental........
Good morning,
There is nothing legal nor regulatory to stop the fitting of an MO to an Audi or indeed the opposite way around. In essence, the tyre is designed, tested and prepared for general sale by Continental Tyres for a specific segment of the market place (for example, mid range performance passenger car). At this point, vehicle manufacturers will begin to carry out their own testing in accordance with the intended vehicle model. The vehicle manufacturers may require slight alterations to be made by Continental Tyres to suit a specific target area. For example a high importance criteria to Mercedes is comfort, whereas say Audi will be perhaps sharpness of handling. As a result either tyre could be fitted, however the vehicle may not perform quite as its initially intended by the manufacturer.
The golden rule, avoid mixing on the same axle, and follow the vehicle handbook. There maybe times where the vehicle has an intelligent drive system and the tyre design "homoligation" marking are relevant more at a mechanical level.
I hope this helps answer your question.
Best Regards
