Despite EPA wanting to curb aftermarket tuning that impact emissions, Burger Motorsports are extracting some superb numbers from their F30 340i.

Mx40i spend ~ £1000 and get 150bhp at the crank on SUL ie about 50% more than the equivalent N55. Knowing how my lowly N55 M135i with its Jb4, DP and intake gets down the road :escape:, BMS setup on an Mx40i is going to be awesome....:bounce:

They are certainly getting good results quick with the new engine.

I'm still on the fence whether the gains are as great as was initially stated when in comparison to our n55 variant engine. Normally BMS/American whp figures are the equivalent to our British flywheel figures meaning around 400bhp on SUL. I do think the b58 turbo will flow more up top giving a bit more power and nicer curve.

I suppose time will tell, I still don't think we have seen our oem n55 turbo maxed....yet :).

Dale - fairpoint - heres the 1st dyno BMS posted on their 340i showing stock and 1st pass at map 1 on a stock

Pump fuel - baseline B58 - 331whp and 339wtorq
Pump fuel - stock + map 1 - 379 / 378 - so similar whp/wtorq gains as N55 on map 2
Pump fuel - Intake and decat Dp + map 2 395 / 405 - reads like N55 on map 5.......circa 450-460chp

Roll on map 5 on B58 - that will net 500+ chp going by the above trending

Yup when you see their baseline dynos they all read around the manufacturer fwhp yet it's their whp.

To be honest I think the b58 map 2 dyno's similar to our map 2, maybe slightly stronger. I'm not sure if the b58 map 2 has partial adaption like we do so its hard to compare without knowing.

Terry ran 430/440 on a custom map 6 on the b58 with e30 fuel but the afr was far far to lean meaning it's a no go for customers and still in testing. Terry also stated that 500 whp (American) or 500 fwhp (British) won't be possible on this turbo.

It's still very early on and look how much advancements we have made from the beginning. Terry initially ran 415bhp On race fuel and now we are comfortable reaching that on normal SUL. I'd expect to see the same development over the months/years with the b58.

To add, VTT a American company that offer hybrid turbos have already started work on a b58 upgraded turbo. Most likely a stage 1 style upgrade which normally entails of compressor side work only.

Looking forward to seeing what they come up with. It would also be good to see what a jb4'd b58 in the UK would make on a DD.

My pal has a 340i coming 1 March and he's seen, heard and felt what jb4 brings to my car so I think he'll be buying b58 jb4 soon enough. He asked me if I'd fit it for him !!

I'm impressed. But I'm also surprised.

Very shocked that these maps don't run to a flat 0.85 lambda at WOT.

There's more to come if they overfuelled more at the top end. 0.85 would be a better (and safer figure).

Update - based on the attached BMS testing of their B58 intake and beta testing of 4" catless

Pump fuel - B58 baseline - stock intake and DP; map 4 [JB4 bypass mode] - 315whp and 340wtorq
Pump fuel - B58 stock DP + BMS intake + map 4 - 325 / 335
Pump fuel - B58 BMS intake + map 4 + 4" decat DP - 345 / 354
Pump fuel - B58 BMS Intake + map 1 + 4" decat DP + map 1 369 / 402
