Reset autobox learning characteristics

Spent some time tonight's looking at some old threads and there were a few references to the automatic gears learnings from your driving styles. Is this true and if so if you buy a second hand car would you be better off resetting the learning

Try doing this

* Press the start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
* Press the accelerator down to the floor for at least 30sec
* Hit start button once to turn off power
* Remove foot from accelerator
* Wait for min. 2 minutes
* Start the engine and drive
