Would a spare / used key for a 2008 1 series be programmable? I've lost the spare, but need a replacement!

Used these myself had to send my cas unit off as I didn't live close but sent on Monday morning had new key and cas unit back on the Wednesday morning. £70 bargain new key and programmed.

But then they have your cars details and your home address. They can clone a key and your car is driven away. Possibly an extreme eventuality but certainly possible.

Suppose it could be very similar leaving your car at a garage they could make a key up then. But his feedback speaks for his credibility. Just do I what I did get key sent to parents address.

Is the cas unit easy enough to remove?

Yep it's under driverside footwell 2 screws unclip and pull out.

Check any insurance products you have for key cover I.e:

- Car insurance
- Home insurance (items away from home cover)
- Any card protection policies

I had a similar issue and realised that a car protection policy included with my bank account (package with breakdown, travel insurance, phone insurance etc) included a card protection cover which also included replacement car keys (£15 excess).
