Hi everyone

Being a novice to the tuning scene, what difference will fuel make to my remap bhp results? My wife drives the car for the most part and will just fill up with the cheap supermarket crap...... How much bhp will I be losing after the remap compared to say vpower?

ie. Do I need to put my foot down on what fuel she's putting in!

Cheers

I only use V Power or Momentium, regardless of if its modded. The 1 series is standard but my two previous cars have been modified and I've always put the best fuel in.

I've a 330i as a daily and I put normal unleaded in that.

99 Ron will yield more power, as the ignition will back off with 95.

Mine drinks V Power with the odd tank of Momentum.

95 won't do any harm though.

Ignition timing backs off to prevent pinking, reducing the power/torque.

95 contains the same amount of energy as 99 (sometimes more), but the timing is the crucial bit. Ron is the ability to withstand pre-ignition.

Run the most Ron your car is mapped for. IE, putting 99 in a Micra won't do anything positive, but 95 in a M135i will give more power.
