Is it the six speed auto? Even though it's only rated for 400Nm there's a lot of people running 420-450Nm setups without any problems.

Surely a map is not far off those torque figures? Thats playing it close.

What can be done to give the box a bit of strength?

You have a couple of options: -
you can get the torque limited on the remap to under 300 lb-ft torque
Change the torque convertor to the one that comes in the BMW Performance Power Kit, sold separately...
