N54 engine I have is ticking/tapping and seriously doing my nut in, I have to fix it guys. Please advise what to do to eliminate this. My car looks amazing and nothing but good comments but the engine ticking/tapping is making people ask if there's something wrong with it. I've got to try and sort it out.

Ticking all the time? Once warmed up? Speeds up when driving etc?

It's when it's sat ticking over, cold or warm pal.

Now Luke mine is exactly the same it sounds like a tappet. More noticeable when cold but can still here when warm aswell does sound annoying think it's just another n54 trait lol

From what I'm told it's the VVT that makes the tapping.

My JCW sounded like a singer sewing machine.

I wunder y I causes the tapping tho does sound annoying tho
