When is a recall not a recall. when it is a quality enhancement. Thats the name BMW give for changing a fuel pump on a vehicle booked in for its first service. Anyhow im sure some of you will have had this done. What i would like to know is how long the smell of petrol lingering inside the car is likely to last ?

I had QEP for LPFP done on my car.

No smell of fuel before or after.

Just make sure your car is less than qtr of a tank as techs have to drop the tank to swap out LPFP.

The mechanic (or do they call them 'technicians' these days) probably got petrol on his shoes/clothes and transferred it to your seats/mats when he got in. They need to arrange for the carpets/mats/seats to be cleaned properly to remove the smell IMO. Dont accept anything less.

FYI, I believe the chassis numbers provided on the DVLA website are the full range of chassis numbers affected so even if your chassis number is within that range the car still might not need the modification (as mine didn't).

Why wouldn't it need modification if it's within the affected range Simon?
Mine is within the range and has the discontinued pump according to real oem.
Why wasn't this picked up. I thought you were supposed to get a letter through the post.
