Is it worth it - that's your call.

You can't start it, but you can unlock it, flash the lights / sound the horn and locate it via GPS.

It does. So you get the directional arrows and stuff on that even with bus nav.

You'll need to time it right - from pressing the button on the phone to the car responding takes about a minute!

Even a minute is 'fast' - your app request has to pass through encrypted servers in Germany which then check various IDs on the vehicle (location, engine stays, etc) before firing said app demand to car.

More gimmick than anything - turning the ventilation system on via a timer could be useful. The only down side is there is no heat for obv reasons so effectively it's just the cold blowers. Prob more useful in the mid summer to cool the interior leather down.

I don't have black panel in my 1er (pre-LCI) but currently have a brand spanking new 330d courtesy car with black panel and it looks really smart. Makes the instrument cluster look a lot cleaner and minimalist.

I would def order it in future (plus I think it's pretty cheap in terms of monthlies)

Just the 7 series at the moment. BMW should really have made the BPD stretch across the whole instrument rather than 2/3's. Next G series cars will all have LCD clusters hopefully. Or at least 70% intergration. We live in hope!

I'd say black panel is a must.

The rest is to you, but don't knock anything until you try it.

FWIW, I have the Pro Media and whilst it is very nice to have it is far from essential but you kind of have no choice if you want the best music integration (Spotify apps etc) and the HK audio - it also responds very well to the Audioquest Jitter bug making the music better.

For the extra £125 (as an option on its own) I would say go for it.

While it does not run the full width of the cluster, it does add some visual wow while providing some info on mpg, etc.
Either way, I just like the extra toy if I am honest

Only just realised that the 'sound horn' option has disappeared since upgrading the app. If you search on the iOS store for 'My BMW Remote' (official app) then the screen grabs still preview the ability to sound the horn. Wonder why they decided to remove…?

Flashing the lights suffices if you are looking for your car in a car park (really ? any one of us would have forgotten where they parked their beloved Mlite ?)
