I bought a pro hu a couple of weeks ago, I installed it blue tooth worked etc and on the source screen you get the USB section.

Today I thought I would test it (as the cables I bought arrived) there doesn't appear to be any power going to the usb socket as it wasn't charging my phone.

The phone wasn't recognised or ipod, to make sure I plugged in a usb in FAT format with a few mp3s on it but didn't do anything.

Do I need to have this coded and if so I will gladly pay some one to do it if your about the Solihull west midlands area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is not a coding issue..... The problem is the cable & socket you are using. You've got a cheap Chinese wire, you need a genuine cable (back of HU to USB).

Use genuine parts

Thanks, I was hoping that that was the case!!! I've ordered genuine parts and y cable.

On a separate note the voice commands all work (genuine bmw mic)

I'd be interested in this. I too fitted a pro HU which was coded by the seller. BT and USB work great but no voice commands? I've heard it doesn't work well anyway so not sure we're missing much.

I've only done basic things like press the button on the steering wheel and tell it to call a number then cancel. I'll do a video later in the week if you want. I could do with reading the instructions on how the commands properly work. I was told the quality of my voice was great with the engine running, though the quality of hearing the voice was ok, I wouldn't say great, though the phone was in my pocket as you would expect.

I installed a bmw cable (though it was a genuine bmw cic usb lead) and still the same issue, I guessing and hoping my car disabled the radios usb function. I've got a dcan cable and some software I'm going to have to try and figure out if I can see if it's disabled. It's really bugging me as I've spent quite a it on all this.

just for closure of the thread if anyone was wondering if i got it sorted, i ordered 61119129360 OEM cable and usb works.
