Paint issue on alloys

Well as already well documented by others, the paint on the standard 18's is pretty p!ss poor and after a mere 6 weeks of ownership I noticed this...

Hats off to my local dealership though (where it should be noted, I did not buy the car from). I rang whilst in the car on the off chance that they had a free appointment for them to be checked out. They advised it would be fine to call in, the bloke checked them out, took a couple of pics, ordered me a new wheel and booked me in next Friday to have it fitted!! I was pretty gob smacked...maybe they are used to replacing them?! :lol2:

Poor show from BMW to produce such poor quality wheels/paint job but a big thumbs up to the dealer for dealing with the situation impeccably.

I've also noticed that the holes for the wheel bolts are severely lacking in paint too but I'm going to reserve judgement on what to do when I see what the new wheel looks like...

Cheers
Pete

From what ive heard on here the M135i wheels are dog $hite.
Yup I'm hearing the same too.

Shame. As I'm coming from a 280 with excellent stock alloys, well painted, cut diamond and titanium alloy. Think they're also knocked up by BBS too, but could be wrong.

Same here. Had the 313's on my E88 and they were lovely wheels. BMW must be cutting corners.
My 2013 m135 wheels are perfect. Not marked or pitted

Show off :lol2:
Finish on them is terrible for the amount of cash the cars cost. You can see where they saved money.
Are the 436m bad wheels or just badly finished? I know it is not ideal but an option I was think was to get them completely stripped and refinished professionally, cost would be about £250 from someone like Lepsons or Spit & polish then you get to choose colour you want and finish would be spot on.

Not what you would expect to have to do but maybe BMW would offer a goodwill gesture to get them all refinished to a high specification if they are poorly finished

They're just bad wheels in reality. Cheap cast crap, which means they're soft and prone to buckling / bending. Quite heavy too, so not good from an unsprung weight/performance PoV.

I'd quite like the style, if it wasn't for that daft built-gutter. Who thought that was a good idea?!

Are the 405m and 624m a different sort of wheel or underneath are all BMW wheels cheap cast rubbish?

A lot of the older performance wheels were made by BBS so I'd imagine the 405m and 624m are the same. I'd like to think the quality is much better with the price tag!

I'm under the impression they're both forged, so should be stronger.
