Hey guys.

Going to give my 130i a good service soon - oil, oil filter, air filter and plugs to start with. I've found some good places overseas for these but can anyone confirm the model of car that we use when ordering from the USA as they don't have the 130i model? Lots of places have the E82 with the N52 so I presume this will do?

Mick's Garage has cheap shipping and 20% for this weekend. Can anyone offer advice on spark plugs though? There's quite a few types and looking for feedback on what you guys have used in the past.

*Edit* I've just realised that the USA must have a flat air filter as well compared to the round Australian version so that's something I will need to be aware of when ordering.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Yeah as above you don't really need to do anything as extravagant as ordering the stuff from the US.

Look on ebay or eurocarparts, they had castrol edge 0-30 ll04 bmw spec oil on offer at like 25 quid for 4 litres. Buy two of those and you're laughing. Oil filter isn't that expensive, nor is an air filter. I paid £35 for a genuine BMW performance air filter brand new.

Micro filters etc you can just buy Mann parts which are fine, but even an oem microfilter is £35.

Spark plugs..... be careful there is a lot of choice and some are not correct. I will see if I can dig up the ones I bought but I bought the NGK platinum ones, from eBay, as NGK (not bmw branded) same plug though and that cost me about £55 for the set.

Which parts are you saving money on ordering from the states?

Sorry guys - should have mentioned that I'm from Brisbane Australia. The issue with ordering parts locally is the "Australia" tax where Bmw main dealers charge like wounded bulls, it's actually obscene how much extra they mark up their parts here so for alot of people importing parts from overseas is still alot cheaper than buying local. We don't have any import duty etc. until you go past $1000 / 500 pounds so it's not too bad.
FWIW I rang a few places today for prices of a well known local brand - Ryco - and even they were about the equivalent of 50 pounds for an air filter, 20 pounds for an oil filter and 50 pounds for the pollen filter. I didn't even bother ringing BMW because they would want my first born child as a deposit.

I have managed to source a supplier here in Australia anyway from a friend, still a bit more expensive than overseas but as the price isn't too bad I'll buy local.

@ Steve - yea I saw they have different air filters there. Cheers.
