Has anyone come across this issue before?
F20 116i Sport.
Started and drove and was driving as normal this morning, but after 10 mins of driving, 'drivetrain error' came up and went into limp mode. Pulled over and restarted a couple of times but limp mode still there. Starting the engine takes a few seconds longer than it has ever done normally. Engine feels weird and rougher than normal. Plugged in a dirt cheap OBDII reader which has thrown up error code P1338, which according to google means 'Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 1 Open Circuit Or Short To Positive'
On a side (and probably unrelated) note, idle has been a little rough for as long as I can remember- well, not 'rough' as such but more of a slight shudder every now and then that can be felt through the steering wheel and gearstick. But two BMW specialists have told me this is normal.
So, to summarise symptoms:
-Limp mode after 10 mins of driving
-Permanent 'Drivetrain Error'
-Takes unusually long time for engine to start
-Idle/engine feels rough
-Code P1338
-Has always had a slight shudder in idle but probably unrelated.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
