basically translated:

real carbon mirror caps (not like the M-Performance which are carbon covered plastic) - lighter, better quality..

or these which appear to be plastic, covered in real carbon (a bit like M-Performance variants):

there are of course also the cheap chinese versions which I personally wouldn't try, unless anyone can convince me otherwise..

does anyone have experience of these non OEM carbon caps..? interested in the quality.

It must be me but I amazed that some people would pay that for carbon caps. I do see the appeal of the black grills. I must be getting a bit old.

They are indeed pricey, debating having the silver sprayed gloss black to match the grills instead.. but do like the look of these carbon..

I bought a pair from carbonmyride on the forum, they were £95 and look great. A much cheaper alternative and most people won't even notice the difference, looks every bit as good.

Not sure why they are suggesting the M performance mirrors are carbon over plastic I can assure you they are not, they are 100% carbon fibre throughout.
The second cheap ones in the pics are probably a layer of carbon over a plastic cover, some are even a layer of carbon wrap which is then lacquered to give the appearance of genuine carbon fibre, the more expensive ones above I'm not sure about, it's suspicious that they don't show a picture of behind the mirror as that will show you wether they are genuine through and through carbon fibre or not.

M Performance caps according to leebmann24: "The cap consists of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP, carbon) and is sealed with varnish."

good point about not showing the back.. I thought the same, but then again the back of real carbon fibre doesn't look great unless especially finished (not much need in this case) and the feedback of the seller on ebay is v.good.

That doesn't really bother me too much though, the weight difference is small enough to be almost irrelevant and you can't see the inside of the mirror cap anyway; the end result looks very much the same. I'd sooner save a few hundred quid and put the money into some other mods.

would agree there.. £500 or even 460eur from Leebmann24 is a bit ridiculous for maybe saving a couple of hundred grams. I'll send carbonmyride a PM or risk it on the cheaper ebay versions.. thanks all

Just as a headsup as I discovered that the second eBay link I posted above actually shows the seller is located in Hong Kong.. they'll most likely be the Chinese versions.

No I meant I have the M Performance Mirrors. There isn't any official M mirrors on the 2 series, in fact even the M2 only gets the same M Performance mirrors as I have as an upgraded option.

Mine are original MP mirrors but you will be hard pushed to tell the difference between original and aftermarket like the ones posted in this thread.

I have the 'M Styl'e mirrors from AUTOID. Fitment is spot on and quality, from the naked eye, is the exactly the same.

tbh these mirrors will look pretty awesome on a M235i! makes the front end more aggressive imo
