Got a message in the app there's a new update available, which seems a bit quick after the last one!
The only new feature seems to be Smart Access - you can also activate shared digital keys without your key in the vehicle simply by entering an activation code in your BMW.

Anyone else?

Nothing on mine yet. I have owned mine since 9th January this year and have not had anything via the app yet.

Does it just come through via a notification? or can you check for updates on the app?

I know you can check for updates in the car, but I rarely use the app as I haven't seen much use for it yet.

It's a matter of being patient, then it will eventually appear in the My BMW app. Go to Check Status / Services / Remote Software.
The July 2022 update only reached my 2021 car at the end of November.

As above, we picked our 128ti on Fri, got a message in the car yesterday about 11/2022.60 but the BMW App kept saying the car was upto date.
Went back to the car a couple of hours later to hard wire in our Nextbase dash cam and when the wife came out to see me, the app is on her phone, she had a notification on her phone with the latest update.
Just need to drive the car now to get it downloaded.

I’ve got a 70 plate 118i and the notification appeared on the car and the App yesterday saying this 11.2022.60 software update was available. Done it this afternoon, took a while to upload to the car, kept having problems with the “connect to wi-fi” part of the upload….I am a big technophobe though ! That’s where having an 18 year old son comes in handy 👍. The final install part to the car was pretty quick, probably 20 mins (ish). Not been out for a drive yet since install, will wait for tomorrow morning’s commute to sample the delights of all the improvements 🤣!

Got the notification on the app and downloaded to my IPhone on Sunday morning quite easily. The faff is then getting the update transferred to the car as you have to drive around for a specific period of time while it does it. Went out for about 20 mins this morning and it had only done 45 %. My next drive is to the airport pre holiday very early in the morning which I guess will them complete the preparation so will have to wait two weeks before I get back to do the next faff of installing it in the car.

We've had a mare this morning with the latest update having not done one before.
Downloaded via the BMW App, went to update/install into the car last night and followed the on screen prompts on the iDrive and left it to do it's thing last night as the car sat in the garage.
The 'boss' went to the car this morning and it wouldn't start, nothing from the ignition button just a message on the iDrive to say the update was installing and it was sat at 21% and moving sooooo slow that the 'boss' took the decision to work from home.
No keys worked, we couldn't lock/open the doors and there was no ignition/dash lights while it was updating and no way to over ride it, great if you need to use the car!!!
15mins later, my wife gets a message on her phone to say the install was complete, back to the car and hey presto, keys worked.

I've now found out that one of the prompts either via the iDrive or App was to 'lock' the car. My wife didn't do this as we have an integral garage and don't lock it. I reckon the update stalled/failed due to this, lesson learnt there.

All good now but no idea what's improved/been updated.

If you've never done one before it's potentially confusing and worrying. Some of the info is a bit contradictory, and the note about having to drive the car is just plain wrong. Just leaving it with the ignition on is OK. The stuff about locking the car is easy to miss.

I can't say I've seen any differences, except that it wiped out most of my E-Sys coding.

No problem with upgrade but since completed all my apps are greyed out and also lost Spotify option of media. Tries rebooting Idrive and apps refresh several times with no luck. Was suggested I wait 24hrs for apps to reappear, no luck on that one either.

Anybody got any ideas??? as I use the Weather, News and Spotify apps a lot.

I find the whole software update process a right royal PITA. I have downloaded it on the app on my phone and as the car is safely parked up in the garage I would like to update it now. I have uploaded it to the car from the phone, but it now just says I will be notified when it's ready to install. Why? Why can't I manually start it immediately? I've locked the car and been back to it twice and turned it on, to see if this kicks it into action but still no option to update. I guarantee it will do it as I'm driving around tomorrow when it won't be convenient to do the update. Why do they make the process so hard and need to involve my phone anyway? The car has a SIM built in, just download the update through that in the background and then tell me when it's ready.

Thanks, I didn't know that. A message to that effect on the screen would be helpful though if that is the case.

And if it is below 75% its because its been sat with the ignition on for 30 mins uploading the damn software!

Still think its all a bit of a faff for something that should be very simple via the inbuilt SIM.

Same with my M240i xDrive, after update all apps (except Personal Assistant) are greyed out. Also the remote start no longer functions. The MyBMW app shows the remote start was sent to the vehicle successfully, but the car is NOT remote started. Spoke with BMW Genius today and they had me try iDrive reboot and 3x reboot but no luck. They finally gave up and directed me to my local BMW dealer, so it looks like that's where I'll be headed. Very frustrating...

Yes you are right :)

As far as I know, the upload from smartphone to vehicle is only performed with the engine running.
I've discovered that 1 year ago the hard way, by waiting minutes inside the car without any progress :ROFLMAO:

I did it in diagnostic mode (3 presses on start button - or what us oldies would call ignition on key position) and it did complete the upload OK without the engine running.

Having read of the problems people are having with the update above though, I really wish I hadn't started the whole process!

Good luck, many many folks are having the 'apps greyed out and non-functional' and 'remote start no longer functional' issues after this 'update', which was obviously botched badly by BMW. Same stories abound on the G42 Bimmerpost blog, lots of unhappy folks.
