New respray with paint reactions...?

Just been in contact they are paying for my expense to et there and back and respraying the issues mate. I think I'll take a uv light to make sure all is done good. He said it may be that the gel coat on the body kit was taken down to much and the gel protection has gone to thin in places

Glad a fix is being put in place . Hassle to go there?

Just a longish drive really pal. 2.5hrs each way. Going on a Saturday, early morning. Apparently can do it on the day but that worrys me driving back if it's not cured proper?

They'll probably only do those area's in a similar way to a smart repair I assume?

Thanks pal, so far it's only affected spots on the duraflex kit, not my actual body of the car, so it must be that. Anyway I will update in the next few weeks on this one!

Yea the only places it seems to have reacted is the duraflex parts.

Possibly the wrong primer was used.

If it was the primer wouldn't it affect all areas?

Funny you've brought this up actually. I have the same thing on my side skirt right at the bottom. It's a very tiny amount and can't notice it but i notice it because i'm anal with paint like that

It's a absolute pita mate, I'll do everything I can to make sure his doesn't happen again. Maybe need some sort of uv light to make sure it's all good..... I've heard of paint thickness checks also...

Even after it is done I'm going to be scared to do any paint correction work on it.

I also have a tiny amount on my arch just like you do! Luckily my space grey colour fades it out so you can't notice it but i'm sure with a darker polish it should cover up pretty good.

This is really strange, i wonder why this is?

I wish I knew the body shop said it maybe the gel coating used on the duraflex, but can't be sure with any one else's not even my own, mine is doing it only on the duraflex kit. none on the duraflex arches or bonnet yet though just areas on the rest.

My painter thinks it's either water based paints that has been put on to quickly instead of thing layers and the lower layer is still wet but can still dry with a uv drying light?
Or that water or moisture is coming through the fibre glass panel?

It's happening on the corner of the arches and bumpers, and now the side skirt. The laquer isn't affected it's the paint underneath.(ATM anyway) I really hope they can fix it for good when I go there. Did he say the best method to fix it?

If it is water based problem and water coming through, then seal behind the panel and it should dry OK?
