I'll check tomorrow when she comes out the garage and see. Had the replacement done on both units a month ago (haven't driven in the dark since - but can't remember how they looked previously.....)
Thanks for taking the time to check that, seems to be a decision made by BMW as they are all the same. It definitely effects night driving. Dark patches and shadows. See my video below.View attachment 22696
Looks like mine is the same. Not massively clear from this pic, but there's a definite gap in the middle now on full beam!
I reckon there's a firmware update anomaly somewhere along the line, especially seeing as your car got called back on. It's a mystery at the moment.Checked my lights after the update I was called back in for after the replacement was fitted due to moisture and theres no sign of dark patches whatsoever on full beam, lights behaving exactly as they did before being called back in for the update.
Weird thing is I cant see what the recall I took it back for has actually done, the tech who did it told me it was a bulletin sent from BMW with a further update they had to do on any cars with a replacement headlight installed.I reckon there's a firmware update anomaly somewhere along the line, especially seeing as your car got called back on. Did you notice the black area prior to the recall? Difficult as it's summer time and lights aren't on unless your driving late at night.Weird thing is I cant see what the recall I took it back for has actually done, the tech who did it told me it was a bulletin sent from BMW with a further update they had to do on any cars with a replacement headlight installed.
I'm certain that after having the new headlight fitted there was no issue with a black area, the first thing I did after the new headlight was fitted was take the car out at night to check the lights were working fully and in alignment.I repeated this process once the the update was installed and again couldn't see any dark areas.Did you notice the black area prior to the recall? Thanksmy F22 M235i has this dark section on high beam when an object is in close proximity to the car. I think its the adaptive headlight beam pattern and you wiĺl probably find the beam crossover at a greater distance yields no black box.
I had terrible alignment issues with my adaptive headlights after an indy cocked up alignment after lowering, but eventually got it resolved on my second dealership alignment visit. Post alignment still have black box on close proximity object.. not normally seen on normally driving.
